Tim was appointed President of the Syracuse Media Group in August 2012 and asked to lead the transformation of The Post Standard into a digitally focus and thriving media company. The Syracuse Media Group was launched in 2013 and with its flagship brands - The Post Standard and syracuse.com – has embarked on a journey to build a new company for the digital age. In May 2015 newyorkupstate.com was introduced to highlight stories from the great travel destinations across Upstate NY.
Over the past 2 years, the company has been the most decorated newspaper organization in Upstate New York and syracuse.com has ranked as the No. 1 local media web site in the US for 30 months.
Prior to Syracuse, Kennedy worked in the operations, strategy and start-up of numerous media companies. He has been involved in over $300 million of transactions involving digital media companies and over $10 billion of media deals. Most recently he served as the General Manger of Rodale.com and was the CEO of The Morning Call in the Lehigh Valley Pennsylvania.
He is originally from Detroit Michigan. His undergraduate degree is from Western Michigan University and his MBA is from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University.
Tim lives in Manlius with his wife Susan and their three children. He is a Board member of Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, Centerstate CEO and the NY News Publishers Association.
