With the advertising specialization students learn to cut through the noise in a competitive industry, through creative branding techniques and strategic advertising campaigns that resonate with target audiences.

The courses for the advertising specialization constitute 12 of the 33 program credits and help students gain deep insight into the research and strategies behind successful advertising campaigns.

The topics include:

  • strategic planning, competitive analysis and brand positioning for target market profiles;
  • building comprehensive media plans that connect the consumers’ needs with a brand’s position through various channels and platforms;
  • digital communications strategy and ethics—mastery of using different media effectively (e.g., web sites, social networks, blogs, online video and mobile); and
  • advertising and public relations research design, to solve strategic communications challenges.
